Our
Research and Development (R&D) department and laboratories are
closely involved in corporate strategies and targets. The work carried
out by the department is divided into two main areas:
Development of new products
and ensuring that they are ready for mass production at the right time
while also complying with and taking heed of current and future market
requirements. In depth knowledge of the market and the early
recognition of newly emerging trends are both vital prerequisites for
ensuring that developments are brought in at the right time. The R
& D department has a regular exchange of information with all the
company's staff, who through their close contact with customers and
awareness of market trends, are able to lend their valuable support.
Applying knowledge of
raw materials to other fields. For example, the company's business was
enhanced and expanded thanks to the development and production of foams
and plastic pipes in the 50s. In this way new and divergent areas of
business outside the cable sector have been added to the company's
activities. To take a more recent example, the deep understanding of
the raw materials used in high frequency absorbers has enabled us to
develop means of processing these for use in cables, transmission
lines, electro compatible absorbers, measuring facilities (TEM test
cells) and last but not least microwave absorbers (including microwave
dishes).
A
dynamic and well managed company has to tackle both of the above areas
on a daily basis in order to meet the increasingly complex demands of
global markets.
Know-how
In using the term know-how we refer to our ability to process vast
quantities of different raw materials in such a way as to produce a
high quality product which complies with even the most stringent of
standards.
More than 4,000 types of raw material,
some 20,000 varieties of cable construction and the daily processing of
more than 100 tonnes of copper are testimony to the complexity of
manufacturing products of a consistently high quality. Know-how implies
mastery of this complex undertaking, and this is by no means easy.
We
consider it important that our know-how is preserved, promoted and
improved in order to enable us to apply our wide knowledge of physics,
chemistry and electrical engineering to new products. With this in mind
the customers can always be sure that they have found the right partner
to help solve all types of complex problems. |
